The EBS Challenge

I'm going to go ahead and say it, I believe John Piwowar's EBS series has been a success. I'm not talking in hits or those types of metrics because I haven't really analyzed the impact his articles have had. I'm talking about inspiring others to do the same. I believe that's where the real value has come from.

So far John has written 6 articles, 3 here and 3 companion pieces on his sites. He sent me the 4th last weekend (about an hour after the 3rd) which I will post next week (holiday lull here). He claims that's a record for him, 8 articles in a single month.

Anyway, here's the list of people who have decided to take the EBS Challenge:Jake Kuramoto added to the fray by posting an article on John's series, Install the E-Business Suite with Your Pals. Jake worked with EBS back in the 80's I think. :)

I'm pretty sure I left people off this list. So if you know of anyone or are someone using John's install guides, let me know through the various methods of communication (twitter, comments, email, IM, etc). I'll add your name to the list with links and all...would be fun to see how many names we can get on here. If you did use the guide and would like to write up your experiences (I will be writing one myself) and post them here as a guest author, or you want to write it on your own blog, let me know. I'll add links next to your name pointing to your article. Also, there is no time limit either. If you follow the guide next December and would like to be added, I can do that too.

I <3 this idea. Should create a great resource for others installing EBS. Oh, and I worked with EBS when it was punch cards :)

Punch cards, that's right. Completely forgot!

I have been honestly surprised at the number of people that are trying this out. As you well know, it ain't easy.

oraclenerd, Since I am Apps DBA and have done 11i/R12 on vmware couple of times in past . I wasn't aware that so many guys are looking for steps. I liked the idea of R12 install challenege and going to post step by step R12 install on Linux using vmware server 2 .

Atul,

I'm not sure everyone was looking specifically for install instructions (I was...that's why I bugged John for about 6 months), I think they just decided to follow along for the thrill and excitement of it all. ;)

Let me know when you finish yours...I'll link it up on this page and hopefully we can get a semi-centralized location.

This is the neat thing about blogging. This could've been a series of emailed instructions, and Chet would've eventually had an EBS install. Make it a public conversation, though, and others benefit. I'm frankly amazed that people would spend their holidays doing this, but I guess that's what being an ORACLENERD is all about. ;-)

Atul, great to see you here! Your site is on my list of "shout outs" in part 4, which Chet will post this week. I've learned a lot following you and your blogging team. :)

John,

I've been on a mission...not being able to do it made me want to do it even more. I woke up at 8:30 am (that's the morning), on a Sunday (did I mention it was the morning? and really early?) just to see if it had finished...and it had. I was so happy...I could finally sleep again. Thanks for making me go a whole month without sleeping...actually, I don't sleep that much...but thanks for helping me get up early (really early)!

Can I add your name? Wanna go by McG? Anywhere you'd like me to point to?

Girls will definitely be impressed, but perhaps you'll have to wait a couple more years. :)

If you're this McG (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0629334/), everyone's impressed, including me. Love your work :)

Fastlane was running on some way-off-cable channel a while back, great stuff. Lots of fast cars and splodies.
